The Journey So Far (the video below may take several minutes to load if the site is busy)

Produced by Stan Denton www.art-sx.co.uk (http://www.art-sx.co.uk/)

One year on and Cheetah-UK has certainly made a significant difference to the young peoples lives it was set up to help. Back in 2006 when Len Denton first started Cheetah-UK, he had no idea of the Impact or the scale of things to come.

The first project undertaken by Len was St. Catherine&amp;#39;s School in Murkuru (Suburbs of Nairobi) and the idea was to help out with a few pens and some educational books, this led to even more projects including Sinai Non Formal School, Katakala, Oloirwora, Narok Educational Centre and currently Mathare.

The goal behind the project was to supply some desperately needed writing materials and education resources, but what started as just a small idea of help soon grew into something far beyond Len&amp;#39;s expectations. A couple of months after the start of Cheetah-UK the PENCIL (content/section/9/45/) project was launched, a small story was put into the local paper and within a short space of time there was a 40 ft container filled to the brim with stationary, books, school furniture, computers, toys and clothes, from every corner of the UK items just kept flooding in via Topps Tiles&amp;#39; stores and staff.

Cheetah-UK hyas taken on a lot more than just supplying pencils, some schools have had new facilities built and the project is now concentrating on building a new education centre, which will hopefully help educate even more students from the poorest areas of Kenya.

There is a lot of information to take in, but hopefully with the new website design and layout, that information will be easily accessible via the main menu navigation (Top Left). We hope to keep the site regularly updated over this coming year, so you will be able to follow the progress of this fast expanding project.

There are many ways in which you may get involved from donations to help cover the costs of shipping equipment to purchasing items and showing your support via our gifts (component/option,com_cafepress/Itemid,55/), books (index.php?option=com_ezstore Itemid=54 func=viewcategory catid=1) and wildlife prints (index.php?option=com_ezstore Itemid=54 func=viewcategory catid=2).

		<title>Our Appeal</title>
		<link>http://www.cheetah-uk.org.uk/content/view/78/2/</link>
		<description>
Maa Community Children Fund (MCCF) (http://helpthemaasai.wetpaint.com/) and Cheetah UK are running a program to support children whose needs have been ascertained. The purpose of this program is to help these children get support from well-wishers. This program is particularly meant to link children with their sponsors and help them communicate their needs to sponsors directly. The children&amp;rsquo;s age bracket is 6-16 years this is the period which children cover their primary education level.

	Sponsors are not obliged to continue their support after primary school. With the government&amp;rsquo;s free primary education program, the sponsors will not be involved in paying for school fees but the other necessities such as, school uniforms, shoes and stationery. Under this program we will update the sponsors of their children&amp;rsquo;s progress and performance. We did a budget for one child per year that amounts to KES 2000 / USD 30 / &amp;pound;20. A breakdown of the same would be sent to sponsors as soon as they would like them. At the end of every term (3 months) we send the expenditures of the child to their rightful sponsors.

This is our appeal; that we have children who are in dire need of your help and we are requesting you to stretch your hand and reach out to make the lives and the future of these desperate children brighter.
