Whilst Len was on his original travels around Kenya, there was a memory that he has held sharp in his mind since he returned, that memory has started this whole new section of the CHEETAH Project, which Len has called PENCIL. The memory I spoke about is, as Len was trekking around Kenya he got to meet many children but a particular young lady ready grab Len's attention. This little girl had a stub of a pencil and she would never let go of it, even in her sleep she clutched this pencil stub so tightly you could not pry it even whilst she slept. This had Len intrigued what could possibly mean so much to this little girl that she would not give up this treasured writing implement? Well it turns out that the reason that pencil was so special to the little girl, was purely that without a pencil she would not be able to attend the local school and learning is that important to the children of Kenya.
Thus the birth of...
P.E.N.C.I.L.
Already several companies have donated some much needed art and education materials and Topps Tiles (Len's employers) have organised a container, through shipping company Banks & Lloyd who have donated the container and will be shipping it out to the children in Kenya, once of course we have all done our part to filled it up for them.
